New e-mail notifications

I have a machine that is on our network that is not receiving new e-mail
notifications. His machine is an XP when 98% of the others are W2K. He also
is running Norton's Firewall, but I disabled it and it still is not getting
notifications. I have read alot about UDP being blocked, but I don't know
what would be blocking it since I disabled Norton's. He is under SP 1 so the
details about SP 2 firewall does not apply. Since he is teh CEO, I would
like to fix him :) Thanks for any help!
