My understanding of the issue is: After importing a contact to Outlook
2003, his birthday will not be shown in Calendar as an appointment. If I
have misunderstood anything, please let me know.

Based on my research and tests, I regret to say that Outlook will not add
the birthday reminder automatically after importing the contact. So we need
to re-enter the birthday so that it will be added to the calendar again.
Another workaround is also to export the calendar folder when exporting the
contacts.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this designed feature has caused you. I
personally think what you would like to implement is very reasonable.
Outlook is supposed to check the contact's birthday and relate it to the
calendar after importing them. I will forward your suggestion to our
develop team so that they may improve this by an update patch to be
released in the future or in the next version of the product.
