If you have English Windows, then you need to install the Chinese IME
(part of Windows XP; Control Panel -> Regional & Language -> Languages
-> Text services & input languages [Details] -> Add -> select the
appropriate Chinese language and keyboard layout, e.g. US Keyboard.
[OK] and reboot).

When sending email, make sure that the outgoing email messages are
properly encoded as GB-2312, otherwise recipients may only see garbage
instead of Chinese characters.
