Sorry for not replying sooner but as mentioned previously the problem was
intermittent & seemed to have resolved itself for a while. This is why I
think the problem lies with AOL although they claim that this is not the
case. To answer your question: I do not really use my AOL email account. I
use another email account which I have used for some time with outlook. This
is the email account with which the sending problems aris,e but only when I
am connected to the internet via AOL. I have merely added the AOL email
account IMAP & SMTP settings to Outlook as I thought it may help resolve the
problem I have sending email from my regular email address/account. This
procedure has however helped only in so far as I can send & receive my AOL
email through outlook. I will try to clarify my problem: when connected to
the internet via AOL I can always receive all email for my regular account.,
I can always send email to myself from my regular account BUT I can only
sometimes send email from my regular email address to others. It seems that
first thing in the morning I can send email to anyone but then later in the
day any emails sent return the system administrator error " 550 relay not
permitted". This is all the more annoying as I have not made any changes to
the system & I get the error for emails sent in the afternoon from people
that I successfully emailed earlier that same day. The AOL email incoming
server imap.uk.aol.com setting is 143 & outgoing server smtp.uk.aol.com is
25 which were recommended by AOL in the UK & connects using LAN & my regular
email account incoming server pop.esatclear.ie setting is 110 & outgoing
server mail.esatclear.ie is 25 as default, connects using a third party
dialler. Both accounts are set to require authentication using the same
settings as the incoming mail server. Finally when I send a test message
there is no problem even when I cannot send emails to others. Please ask if
you require any further information. Yours thankfully, Doc.
