Outlook demands read *and* WRITE access to its .pst files. All files on
CD-ROM media are read-only so Outlook cannot open them. You will need
to copy the .pst files to other media where you can then remove the
read-only file attribute, like to your hard drive.

As a consultant, you should already be aware of Google and other search
engines where you could have discovered this information for yourself,
such as
http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%2BOutlook+%2BPST+%2Bcannot+%2Bopen+%2BCD+insubject%3A%22re%3A%22.
Sometimes knowing on what to search in Google is the hard part (so you
get some results and not millions of them). When searching at
Microsoft's own support knowledgebase site, you might discover the same
or similar problem already mention. For example,
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=839109 mentions problems when
opening/importing/exporting between OL2003 and different versions. You
never mentioned what version of Outlook you used to create the PST file
and then what version of Outlook you used when trying to reopen the PST
file.
