I'm not aware of any other apps that can do it - each app would need a
clipmate type program installed that could send the link to the program
window (instead of the clipboard) and not all apps (especially Windows IM)
have enough API exposed to do that. It's much easier to use File, Send to
within the app and call up the windows file explorer dialog then to invoke
the app from within windows explorer.
