Hi, yeah not the best description. Heres what I did:
1- Copied 2003 .pst from users machine onto network as backup, call this pst1.
2- I then created a blank 2000 pst ( pst2 )on another machine, added it as a
2000 personal folder under 2003 and copied the emails from pst1 to pst2 in
Outlook, so that pst2 could be used in Outlook 2000.
3- Rolled back to Outlook 2000, and added the pst2, at this point the user
had her emails, but no contacts, but I wasnt too worried, as I still had a
copy of the original 2003 pst on the server, and just assumed the missing
contacts were due to transferring from a 2003 to 2000 pst as in step 2.
4- Then changed office back from 2000 to 2003. First I imported the pst2 she
had been using with 2000 ( with already missing contacts ) so she didnt lose
any emails from the few days she was using 2000.
5- Then I went and copied the originally backed up pst - pst1 on to her
machine, and its at this point Im stuck.
I still have the originally backed up pst1 on the server, and have tried all
the methods above to pull it back into 2003, and the emails are all there,
just no contacts.
I dont get it, because the pst1 which is on the server, is exactly the same
as the pst she was using before with 2003, and the file size is the same ( I
wrote it down before backing up, to ensure no data was lost ) as it was
before I copied it.
So in ESSENCE, all I really did, was take a copy of a 2003 users pst, remove
2003 and reinstalled it, and put the pst back. But of course, her contacts
are missing.
The folder list from the pst I am trying to import from just shows inbox,
users folders, outbox and recycle bin, there are no folder list entries for
contacts in OL2003, or am I missing something?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Martin.
