Ms. Staples,

I replied and did not hear back from you

Thank you for the reply.

The network is such that the connection is what the computers share. Each instance of Outlook is running standalone and yes, the other installlations run on the other computers. However, the mail accounts on each computer are unique. I did a file/settings transfer to the new computer and then deleted the accounts which were kept active on the laptop.

It began when the network was enabled.

I ran Office "Repair" and then upgraded both Office Installs to the latest versions.

No, the profile is the original from th esingle install.

There is no active file sharing though those files do reside in Shared Access folders.

The odd thing is when I get a message from an account other then the Default, I can reply using that unique account. I cannot use any other than the default account to send new email

I appreciate your time

1. Is Outlook closed on the other 2 computers?
2. When did this start happening?
3. Did you apply SP-3 for Office XP?
4. Have you tried a new mail profile on the machines?
5. Are you sharing the .pst file from a network or shared drive?

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Ajvatx asked:

| Recently I installed a home network linking two laptops and a desktop
| via a broadband router. I am using Outlook 2002, XP Professional and
| all software has been recently updated. It is a simple setup.
|
| I have mutiple POP3 accounts and have never had a problem sending or
| receiving mail or selecting any of the different accounts.
|
| Currently, I can reply to an email and Outlook correctly choses the
| email address to send FROM in the reply.
|
| The problem is I CANNOT chose a different email address other than
| the default account when sending a NEW email. I also cannot change
| the FROM email address when replying to an email. I get this error
| message: " Unable to complete the operation A fatal error has
| occured in Outlook."
|
| The problem is identical on each of the 3 computers.
|
| Any help would be appreciated.
|
| Thank you.
