Hi John,

Thanks for your posting here.

This behavior will appear if the problematic doesn't have the read
permission to the public contacts folder. Please first check the permission
according to the following instructions:

1. Start Exchange System Manager.

2. Locate the Public Folder Store, and open Public Folder.

2. Right-click the public folder containing the distribution list in
Exchange System Manager, click "Properties", and then check the permission.
Confirm the problematic user have the read right.

For more information, take a look at the following article:

Function
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=259182

If the issue persists, please confirm the following information for further
investigation:
1. Please test other good account on the problematic workstation.
2. Check the issue with the problematic account on a good computer.
3. Provide me with a screen shot of the error message.

Hope this help! Have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards
Alan Sun

One of the users on our network gets the following
message when trying to send a message to a distribution
list residing in a public folder: "An internal support
function returned an error." It appears in a dialog box
labeled "Microsoft Word." Other users can use the
distibution list without issue. I am thinking this is
configruation problem on this specific user's machine.
Do I need to reinstall Office? We are running Office
2003 Professional. Thanks for any help you can offer.
