Today, for the first time, I got the same "Fatal Error" message in Outlook XP as Christian reported on 2/4/04; I have nevr had this problem before and have been able to switch accounts at will.
I have tried "Detect and Correct" in Outlook XP from Help drop-down list; it goes about 60-70% of theb way and I get this error message "Error 1919: Error configuring ODBC data source; MS Access Data Base error 6; component not found in registry. Verify that the file MS Access Data Base exists and that you can access it"; it gives me 3 choices: Cancel, Retry and Ignore; Cancel reverses the entire "Detect and Correct"; Retry doesn't help (same error message); and Ignore ignores the error and completes "Detect and Correct" and reports that the operation was successful. But it wasn't, it did not solve my problem of not being able to switch accounts.
So, I uninstalled and re-installed the entire Office XP (twice); each time, during the reinstallation, I got the "Error 1919" message, as above, and I had to chose Ignore, as before, for the re-installation to be completed.
Now, I am going to delete all email accounts except one and add one account at a time and see if the problem goes away.
If not, I'll need help and would appreciate getting it.
What bothers me the most is the "Error 1919", which I didn't get, or any other errors, when I first installed Office XP, last year.
