In fact, I was assuming that you weren't a seasoned user but instead
didn't know either where to look or how to look. The newbie might not
know where to look. They may also not know how to perform a search that
sufficiently narrows the matches to a low number to make it reasonable
to peruse the matches, or they may not get any matches, and some users
are just not very persistent.

Sometimes I would rather "train" the user in using Microsoft's KB site
or Google rather than just be their automatron by doing their lookups
and just giving them the link. By having them actually walk through the
process of doing the search themself, they might later decide to try
that avenue of support before blurting out a post (i.e., a knee-jerk
response). I tell them how I did it so they'll know how to later do it
for themself when that next problem crops up, and there will be that
next problem.
