Not really.
There is never any need to turn on sharing in OE.
Your symptoms suggest there is more to this story than you have revealed.
You must not have been using the Outlook Address Book before. In place
upgrades from IMO mode of Outlook are not a good idea. Install clean or
create a new profile if you install over an old version.
