You are correct with respect to an Outlook calendar that is NOT synced to an
MSN or Hotmail server-based calendar that is the primary calendar in Outlook.
Reminders can be set for any time. However, if one syncs Outlook to one's
MSN account, e.g., to enable e-mail and one's calendar to be accessible from
anywhere - and one makes that the primary account in Outlook - reminders in
the calendar cannot be set more than 2 weeks in advance. The error message
says, "Reminders cannot be set more than 2 weeks in advance" when I set an
appointment on my MSN/Hotmail synced calendar for greater than 2 weeks in
advance. I suspect MS's reason for this limitation is to save server space.
So, the price to be paid for the convenience of having an online calendar
(thru MSN or Hotmail) accessible anywhere in the world and through Outlook,
is that one loses the ability to set the calendar reminders more than 2 weeks
in advance. As I said, a huge diminution in functionality.
This is my first time on this forum. My goal is to get MS to address this
limitation in functionality. Perhaps I should address this in the MSN forum.
