Click the "play across slides" option on the Sound Tools tab on the Ribbon in 2007.

Hi!
I sort of followed your instructions but in my PPT 2007, the options are not
exactly as you mentioned but I was able to get the music by specifying the
number of slides to play it. However, I seem to have lost the ability to
advance the slide automatically. I now have to advance by clicking the arrow
key. I was able to do Steps 1-6. Step 7, Custom Annimation is not an option
when I right clicked. I did find it under "Animation Tab". I did not exactly
find steps 8-12 but I was able to specify the starting slide and ending
slide. I found something called trigger - and I don't know what that does.
Anyway, I was able to do steps 13 and 14. When I run the slide show, I have
to click to advance the slide. I was hoping that the clides will
automatically advance after 4 seconds. I specified this under the tab
"Animations -> Advance Slide -> Advance after 4 seconds but I think the steps
above over rode it. So, any suggestions?

In that case, these are the steps you should be following:
1. Choose "Movies and Sounds" from the Insert main menu option.
2. Depending on your preference, select "Sound From Gallery", "Sound From File", "Play CD Audio Track", or Record Sound.
3. Locate the Sound file that you wish to play across any number of your slides.
4. Insert the sound.
5. If you don't want the sound icon to appear in the presentation, drag it off the slide.
6. If you are asked Do you want the sound to play automatically? Select "YES".
7. Right click the sound's icon and select "Custom Animation" from the popup menu. The Custom Animation dialog box will open and your sound file should be listed.
8. Select the "Multimedia Settings" tab, making sure that the sound object is selected.
9. Click the checkbox, placing a checkmark next to "Play using animation order".
10. Select the "Continue slide show" radio button. This allows PowerPoint to continue playing the sound when you move to the next slide in the presentation.
11. Beneath Stop Playing, Select the number of slides that you would like the music to continue to play through. For example, if your music or sound track should play across the first 5 slides before a new music or sound track should play on slide 6, enter 5 in the box.
12. Click the "More Options" button, and click a checkmark in the "Loop until stopped" checkbox.
13. Select the Timing tab. To play automatically, the timing should be set to Start After Previous with a 0 second delay.
14. Your music track will now continue after you leave the slide on which you placed it and play until it reaches the slide number which you entered to Stop Playing.
15. Go the slide where you want your next music or sound track to begin playing.
16. Repeat steps 1 - 14 for your next music or sound track.
