May it is not set to play across slides:

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)

I have made a slide show of 20 slides in Powerpoint 2003. Everything works
fine when I play this back, but when I add a music file the playback stops at
the first slide but if I go to 'next slide' it continues no problem but with
no sound.. If I then remove the music, the show plays .What have I done wrong?
