Hey Lucy,

All of the machines that we use are connected to the printers by our domain.
We installed the drivers into our print server so the drivers are the same
on each machine.

PowerPoint will not love you for that. It's ... challenged ... in this
situation.

As a test, at least, try installing the same driver locally on a workstation or
two. You can still redirect output to the printer server shared port to use the
shared printer.

And as another possible interim fix, use the Save As PDF add-in to make a PDF of
your PPT file, then print that from Acrobat or Reader.

The only possible changes we made was setting it up to
print in color. By default everyone in printing in Black and white and must
manually change that the color setting. I tried to print one document about
10 MB and 12 pages long. Changed to print in color and printer only prints
the first 3 pages repeatedly. Tried to print black and white and print was
successful. Tried to print pages 4-12 and print was successful. When I
monitor the print job i see the job spooling resets when the error occurs. I
know the documents are not corrupt because we just created them. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael

Ahhh, intermittent problems - my favourites ;-). If some machines never have
the problem I would look at the differences between their set up and those
of the problem machines. Particularly printer drivers & settings, and the
print settings in Word & PowerPoint. Also have a look on what is on the page
where the problem starts - large graphics, fancy fills/transparencies,
SmartArt, etc.

Hello Lucy,

It seems that the issue is intermittent and works when it wants to work.
For some Machines the problem persists but with others it works just fine.
The problem also occurs with some large Word Docs.

Hi

What does it look like in Print Preview? Are you having problems with
other
files or just this one? If just this one, it may be corrupt:

I am trying to print a large powerpoint/word file (20-30 MB) but when
the
job
is sent to the Printer (Dell 5110cn) it prints out the first couple
pages
and repeats those pages 3-4 times. The rest of the document is not
printed
and i get 3-4 copies of just the first couple of pages. I contacted
Dell
about
the issue and they told me its not the printers but pointed me in the
direction that there was an issue with the document. We Use Vista
32-bit
systems and office 2007. We just reinstalled the the latest drivers
from
dell and the issue still occurs. We also change the setting where the
job
is
completely downloaded before printing but when i see the job it uploads
half
the file and resets to the beginning.
