Just to confirm. I had a chance to test this while my students are on
break, and it is true. Escape from a custom show does return you to the
slide that linked to the custom show. Break's over.

I seem to recall that if the links are to custom shows within the same
presentation, then Escape will end the custom show and return to the
slide that did the linking.

Keefoh, that's what Esc does in PPT -- it ends the slide show, dropping
you
back into editing view if you're working with a PPT file. It's never
returned you to any slide.
You may have thought it was doing that. See, when you hit a link, it may
open a new presentation. That file opens on top of the original
presentation, so when you hit Esc, it closes that file...and the original
presentation is still there in slide show view behind it.
I'm guessing it's hiccupping because you have more than one presentation
open, but you don't realize it. In slide show view, hit Alt+Tab. How many
presentation icons do you see?

Even with only one presentation open, the Esc key stops the
presentation
nd gets me back to the Edit screen.
I'm used to Esc returning me to the Index Page where the hyperlinks
are.
I notice that the program seems to 'hiccup with black screens' when the
presentation is started and when hyperlinks are clicked. Not as smooth
and
emmediate as usual.
Odd!
Any more thoughts?
Thanks

Thank you! That has solved the linking problem!
However, the Esc key doesn't get me back to the Index Page - it stops
the
presentation and returns me to the edit screen.
Please can you suggest how to restore the usual function of Esc to get
me
back to the 'index slide'?

Thanks. I'll try that
I'm using Ppt 2003.
I've noticed that the presentation doesn't jump back with Esc as it
should. It closes the presentation and returns me to the Edit screen!

Did you re-hyperlink them after removing the commas from the
placeholder?

I have a presentation where each title on a list on the 'index
slide'
is supposed to hyperlink to the appropriate place within the
presentation. But apart from the first and last title hyperlinks
(which
work), all that happens is the hyperlinked title changes colour.
I thought removing commas from hyperlinked slides might work, but
no -
Any thoughts please?
