I just noticed you said 5 slides with 100 pictures. Does slide 4 have 20 pictures on it?
PPT 2007 defaults to 200 ppi for its compression. That won't help here. Did you specify the 96 ppi option when compressing?

The animation is finished 3 seconds prior to the time I have set to
automatically advance the slide. I also compressed the file with no luck.
Thanks

Well, is the animation on slide 3 longer than 3-4 seconds? That could cause
a delay.
If you compress the picture on slide 4, does that resolve the issue? If
PPT's struggling to display it, that could cause a delay. Sometimes
uncompressing large JPGs can cause that.
Compress Pix tool is on the Picture toolbar in PPT 2003. It's on the Picture
Tools tab of the ribbon in 2007. Compress it to 96 dpi/ppi (for email, I
think it says). Then save.
