You might try Insert | Slides from File, then and see if you can insert the slides into a new presentation. Sounds as if there's something inside this particular file that's causing issues, and you may be able to use the Insert from File to insert the slides individually until you can figure out which one is causing the problem.

It's odd, though, that you can open the file on one computer, but not on the other. What's different about the systems?
