They're different programs with often different behaviors. It's always safest not to assume they'll be the same. ;-)

If nothing else, the PPT users would complain if MS made it work like Word and the Word users would complain if they made Word work like PPT.

Ah, but wait. It gets better. Depending on your settings, when you close the last open document in PowerPoint 2007, the whole APPLICATION closes.

dissapear if I create an other new presentation.

It will be nice that powerpoint has the same behavior as Word. It will be
more coherent between Office product.

It's normal.

Is it a problem for some reason or were you just curious? (Either way, it's a
reasonable question).
