So the MP3s have been converted to RIFF WAVs using Cdex so they could be
embedded, is that what you're saying?
If so, you want to try inserting the regular MP3s instead.
http://www.echosvoice.com/gotchas.htm#SoundAdvice will help you keep the MP3
links working.

Because of the size of the completed presentation I had to find a way to
install MP3 music files on - I used Cdex to do this. So ... the music are
converted MP3 files and the animations (sound of sweeping, sound of a
truck
back-firing) are wav files

PPT can play animation sounds along with background sounds. It may be
that
your sound card can't play two WAV files simultaneously, though.
Is your background music MP3s or WAVs?

I have inserted various music files to play as a background to my slides
and
converted them so that they are playing correctly and are not too big.
I
then want to have animations with sounds playing concurrently, but the
music
stops as soon as the new sound starts. Any assistance please?
