I use a broad variety of hyperlinks in my presentations. Recently I noticed
some of my actions buttons have "converted" thier intended action (i.e.
hyperlink to slide 23) into a "mailto:my email address here" link, which,
surprise surprise did not perform the expected action of calling for my email
program.

I just helped another PPT user

Ah. That was you. Nevermind. <g>

who had a presentation with exactly these
symptoms. In that case it was because the Hyperlink Base for the presentation
was set to a mailto:blablah@xxxxxxxxxxx url.

Choose File, Properties and on the Summary tab, look at the Hyperlink Base text
box. Remove any text in it, save the presentation and test your links again.

Better?
