Jay,
Have you tried placing the sound in the appropriate slides in the slide
transition. That generally works. On condition that it is a wave sound and
not another type.
Also read this, particularly the section on multiple music files Add more
than one sound...

I have around 50 slides and 5 songs. I want to add one song for 10 slides
each. I put the first song on the first slide and end it on slide 10. Then
I
placed the 2nd song to slide 11 and ends it at slide 20. When I tried to
play
the presentation., the first song song ended but the second song did not
start to play when slide 11 displayed. Any suggestions on what settings to
configure?
