I want to draw a segment of a circle.
Tip - HOVER over buttons to see their TOOL TIP, which will help below.
One method is as follows:
1. Draw a circle the right size for your segment as a guide.
Check SNAP TO GRID is on
Select the OVAL tool [looks like an oval, too] from bottom left toolbar
Point at your circle centre
Hold down CTRL and SHIFT keys
Left click and drag out a circle the right size for your segment.
DONE.
2. Draw a rough segment to the correct circumference points.
Choose AUTOSHAPES > LINES > CURVE [bottom left squiggle] bottom toolbar.
Point at your circle centre again.
Hold CTRL down.
Left click and drag from the centre to your first chosen point on the
circumference.
Don't let go of CTRL.
Left click again and drag to your 2nd chosen point on the circumference.
Don't let CTRL go ...
Left click and drag back to the centre of your circle ...
... and let go of everything.
You should have a triangular segment, filled, which goes from the centre
to the two circumference points of your choice. The edge nearest the
circumference is still straight, though.
DONE.
3. Make the edge near the circumference curved.
SELECT the new triangular segment.
RIGHT CLICK and choose EDIT POINTS
you'll see square BLACK dots appear in the triangle corners
HOVER over one of the black dots on the circumference
RIGHT CLICK and choose CORNER POINT
two WHITE square dots appear joined to your corner point by thin lines
[if you see one only, the other is hiding under the black corner point]
LEFT CLICK on the WHITE dot on or outside the circumference and DRAG it
away from the circle.
You will see the near-circumference straight line of your triangle segment
bend.
Drag the white control point so that the curve of the segment matches the
circumference of the circle template you drew.
Let go.
DONE
You should now have a filled segment that fits your template circle and
which is a separate object, so you can edit it with the usual tools.
Lastly, select and delete your template circle, if you don't want to use it.
DONE.
