Re: File freezes at open

Thanks. And I just found out the problem started before the sound was added.
That makes it so much easier to guess which one of the 37 slides it might
be... not!

It would be nice if Microsoft had a native document integrity check like
Word's Open and Repair option which helps prevent corruption with complex
word documents like those with many embedded objects. You might be
wondering, "Why doesn't Word just Open and Repair all documents?". Becaue
it's so much more fun to work with corrupted documents! ;-)

Thanks. I know why I was confused -- the plug-in creates a PPC file.

"Once you start using the Macromedia Breeze Plug-In, the program will create
an external file to store your recorded audio information. This external
audio file will have the same name as the PowerPoint file, but will use the
..ppc file extension. If you move/copy the PowerPoint presentation, you will
have to move /copy the corresponding .ppc file, or you will not have audio
information."

I'd be inclined to suspect the linked PPC file of causing the problems, but
I honestly don't know for sure.

Here is a link if you are interested in the plug-in.

Thanks for the suggestion... if nothing else, that is what may have to be
done.

I'm still not following the "pps file that is the extension for the
Breeze
plug-in" that's used for the voiceover. I'm sure it's because I don't use
Breeze -- but generally, I'm only familiar with voiceover audio being
added
as actual audio files (MP3 or WAV, for example). So I'm wondering if the
"Breeze sound file" is causing the problem.

Anyway, I think you should try to isolate the problem slide. Delete half
the
slides and save the file with a new name (File|Save As) -- actually, save
it
with a new name before you delete the slides.

Then repeat until you can figure out which slide causes the problem.
Recreate that slide.

Hi Echo S- I think a slide in the file is tweaked and it gets corrupted
when
changes are made to the file. There is a .pps file that is the
extension
for
the Breeze plug-in for Powerpoint that is used for the voiceover .

Thank you.

What do you think is causing the file to freeze? What is a Macromedia

On open, PowerPoint freezes. Just one file. I have tried it on
multiple
PowerPoint installations.

I can repair the file, and it will work, but than the same thing
happens-
I
repair it (Easy Reovery Professional) and it will work again.
However,
now
the repaired version is losing a lot of the formatting. I have
copied
all
the slides to another file and removed all links or converted them
to
pictures.

37 slides, some pictures. File size- 406K. Also includes
Macromedia
Breeze
sound file of 17MB.

Thank you for any help.
