You know, are you sure SP1 has been installed on PPT 2003? That particular
SP is very very important for PPT especially and so it would be a very good
idea for your IT staff to install it if it's not already. (I know where I
used to work the IT people would tell me SP1 was installed, but when we
checked in Help|About, we found that SP1 wasn't listed after PPT 2003 when
it should have been. And after we'd actually install it, the problems with
disappearing images and charts and other stuff all went away, go figure. ;-|
So you might double check.)

Text growing in PPT 2000 is caused by a different bug, and I believe it

As mentioned in the first KB, you can use the blank slide layout as a
workaround. Or, my preferred method is to copy the title and textbox --
which makes them no longer placeholders, which means they aren't tied to
the
masters, which means the font size shouldn't grow -- and delete the
original
placeholders.

I would be concerned about the deleted textboxes. I've never seen
anything
like this. SP1 for Office 2003 should resolve most of the "missing items"
issues many users see with plain ol' PPT 2003 straight out of the box
with
no service packs. If you at least have SP1, you shouldn't be seeing any
missing items. I've no idea what to say about that -- except maybe you're
onto something with the LN dropbox! :-)

I just spoke to another person in our company that has also had the

size change when sending files via the LN dropbox. This client has
Win2K/Office 2K. He said he has had this happen a couple of times to
him.

If you're missing stuff in the file, I'd be inclined to think you
need
to
apply the latest service pack to Office 2003. Open PPT and go to
Help|Check
for Updates to apply SP2 for Office 2003.

If you were experiencing problems with the master, it would be an
issue
with
the text placeholders on the slides (where it says "click to add
text"
or
"click to add title"), not with regular "manual" textboxes. What
usually
happens is you change the size of the text in the text placeholder,
then
after saving, the size indicated on the slide master text
placeholder
gets
"reapplied." So your text jumps to whatever size the slide master
specifies.
As an experiment, you can try duplicating the slide master, dragging
it
to
the first place in the list of masters, and changing the font size
to
whatever you want it to be on the problem slides, then apply that
master to
the problem slides. This probably won't help if the problem is
indeed
with
regular "manual" textboxes, though.

Checked the fonts as you mentioned - none with question marks. The
fonts
listed are Arial, TNR, Verdana and a custom font which all the PCs
had
installed. Also looked at the master - only 1 master is being
used.
It
doesn't seem to be effecting the slide placeholders, only
textboxes
on
slides. There are also slides within the same presentation that
the
textboxes
were not effected - all using the same master and layout.

Thanks for any other suggestions. We are very confused.

A client was using WinXP/Office 2003. The presentations

via a Lotus Notes dropbox. Has anyone else heard of this? Is
there
anything
else that may have caused this to happen? The frustrating part
is
that
it
didn't only have an impact on the recipients, it also totally
messed up
the
original files.
