Yes, you can do this if you insert your movie as an object - you'll need to
set the Start Selection and End Selection points though in Media Player -
and that's not mentioned in the URL below.
Look here:
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/ppvideo3.html#objects
I just tried to insert an object but my computer has no objects with the
names Media Object or Video Object any more - however, I checked several
other systems in my office, and it does work with them.
Having said that, it's best if you used a video splitting application and
inserted the trimmed video inside PowerPoint.
Have a nice day.

Hi all,
I have searched the FAQ and Google for answers to this question, but with
no luck. I have several large files (600mb) of hourly imagery from
meteorological satellites. Sometimes we wish to show the whole video but
on other occassions we wish to only show frames 2003 to 2545 etc. Is there
a way I can arrange to have different pages in ppt load and play different
frame ranges. I am happy to do some VB but would like to see some
examples. Ideally I would also like to have controls for speed and step
forward backward frames. The movies are created from single gif images so
I have a a lot of control over which codecs to use. The MS Mpeg4 codec
gives me good quality and size but not sure on the step frame. I note the
reference to mci commands in some of the tutorials, but no examples on how
to use them.
many thanks
Jeff Wilson
