Setting up transitions for specific text within individual slides

I'm trying to set up transitions for specific sections of text within
individual PowerPoint (XP) slides, but I don't know how. For example, if I
have a bulleted list of 6 items but only want to them pop up 1 @ a time, how
do I do that without having to make 6 separate slides? Please email me @
