What version of Windows are you running? If it is Win 2000 or XP you should be
comparing the Registry settings, not the Win.ini and System.ini files discussed
at http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm

If your files play in mplay32.exe and not in PowerPoint when in slide show mode,
my guess is that the path length is too long. Where have you stored your MP3s?
Are they in My Documents? That might make the path very long. Try moving
everything to C:\Test and delete and reinsert the music files. Then play the
slide show. Does the music play?
