Okay, I think we are on the right track. You have definitely tried many
things and have given lots of detailed information to work with.

---------------------------------------------

> -"Presented by a speaker (full screen)
This is the 'normal' presentation mode, used at least 90% of the time.
Everything discussed here is based on this mode.
> -"Browsed by an individual (window)"
Never really played with this one, so I do not have a good definition of it
right now.
> -"Browsed at a kiosk (full screen)"
Overrides some functions, especially useful when mandatory viewer input is
needed to advance slides, etc.

Sounds like you are getting things figured out. Yes, use the "presented by a
speaker (full screen)" setting. No do not use "show on secondary monitor"
rather set this to "Primary Monitor." Now where the presentation is shown is
dependent on your display settings (outside PPT). If you have an extended
desktop setup, the presentation will only display on the primary/laptop
monitor. If you have a mirrored setup the presentation will display on both
laptop and projector (in show mode). If the secondary monitor is not active,
presentation will only display on local monitor.

Laptop should have a key combination to toggle through display modes (off,
mirror, extended). What brand/model laptop are you running?

Still not clear what is occurring here. But rather than focus on the exact
details here, I believe if the PPT and display setting are configured as
listed above, this issue is eliminated - and you can use hyperlinks because
the presentation is in show mode on both local monitor and projector.

This tells me that the computer is configured with an extended desktop,
which we should have eliminated with the above configuration.

I personally prefer a mirrored setup. It eliminates a huge number of
technical issues as well as just plain mistakes (ie. exiting presentation,
having other application dialog boxes pop up on the projected screen, etc.)

But to the answer to the uber-question is using an add-in (works in PPT
2000-2002-2003) called PowerShow. Check here for the details:

Correct. By NOT clicking "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" you
are telling the graphic card to run a mirrored output. Note: if you were
running an extended desktop and then uncheck this option, the result will
most likely be deactivating your secondary monitor altogether. Not a
problem, just a function of most graphics cards. Say Apply/Okay and then
using the laptop function keys toggle the secondary monitor on again (or
activate by going through the advanced display options - my preference).

Side note: which manufacturer of graphics card does the computer run (ATI,
Nvidia, Intel Extreme, etc.). Go to CONTROL PANEL >> DISPLAYS >> SETTINGS
tab >> ADVANCED button >> ADAPTOR tab >> listed under Adaptor Type.

Hope that provides some additional information and allows you to
troubleshoot.
