Has anyone solved this problem yet? I have gon so far as to pay $150 for a
new office 2007 disc with a new product code and everything, re-installed it
on my computer, and it still says my product is not activated when I fail
validation. I try to activate, but then I get the message that it's already
activated. If anyone is still working on or has solved this problem, please
help me. I tried to contact support for microsoft, but they wanted to charge
me $49 just to email them about my problem. Aren't they rich enough yet?!

I have done as you suggested - however - while it says that everything has
installed successfully and if I select "activate product" I receive a
"product already activated message" this still will not pass validation.

I assume this is due to a previous installation on an old computer - how do
I resolve this?

1. Open the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Data\

2. Locate the data.dat and data.bak files

3. Right click to rename the files to something different.

4. Insert your original Microsoft Office CD and launch an application, e.g.
Word or Excel.

This will reactivate your applications.

If you don't have the CDs, you may reactivate by contacting the Microsoft
Activation Center. The Office Activation Center can be reached at (888)
652-2342 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Pacific Time. The activation process is
free of charge.

I have a Office XP standard for students and Teachers (ver 2002, sp3) that I
purchased new years ago and have had on my PC ever since. I have run Office
update many times successfully. Now suddently I get a validation failure
message that says I need to activate my Office copy first. Hhhmm, I think. So
I go into Office and click Activate product and I get a message that the
product is already activated. So I'm stuck. What gives? Could my Norton
Antivirus be suddently interfering some how? I only use the standard XP
firewall. Please help. Thanks.
