RE: Service pack 3 for office gives error code 57E

I found some notes in a support case that suggested that this might be a
result of interference from AntiVirus software or firewall software. So
you might check that out.
Failing that, try installing from the Microsoft Download Center. That will
generate a more detailed installation log file in the %temp%\ohotfix folder.
