Well we would need to figure out why they are failing.
Could you please provide a verbose log from a failed install for review?
This will help us get to the bottom of it. Here is how to get a verbose log
that you can error here.
1. Please download KB934173 to your local machine from here.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=21394270-96F8-42B5-AF85-65C639055435&displaylang=en
2. Create a folder in the c:\ named Patch. Place
word2007-kb934173-fullfile-x86-glb.exe in that folder.
3. goto start, then run. In the run box type "cmd" (without the quotes). hit
enter
4. in the black window that comes up type "cd\" (without the quotes). hit
enter then type "cd patch" (without the quotes). hit enter
5. type "word2007-kb934173-fullfile-x86-glb.exe /extract:c:\patch /quiet"
(without
the quotes). hit enter
6. type "msiexec /p word.msp /l*v c:\patch\Log.txt /qb" (without the
quotes). hit enter
7. It will fail or not. Either way please locate the file c:\patch\Log.txt.
Open that log file. If the patch failed, search the log file for “value 3”.
Post about 10 lines above and below the “value 3” in this forum. That should
give us the answer why it is failing.
Thanks

Thanx for the info Eric. I think you're right, it's probably a coincidence..
I will try again and see what happens.
I also have another post on Windows Vista General Discussion about not being
able to install 3 Office updates, XML update and SQL server update with
error message 80200053. Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by
low memory (low disk space for swapping files) or corrupted cabinet file.
I have tried to install these files individually from Windows Update and
then directly from the actual update page with no luck. The Office Updates
are: 935569, 937068 and 934173.
Since some of my problems are with Office updates, does anyone have any
ideas on how to get these updates installed?

Hi Motowngirl,
That patch is an important one. It is recommended that you install it.
It is odd that your wireless networking stopped working. Without any further
details I wonder if it isn't just a coincidence.
The only file that that patch updates is mso.dll which has nothing to do
with wireless networking.
