Re: Office 2003 all updates failed - SP2 Currently is in Effect

No I am not a MS employee.
There are many reasons why updates fail on particular computers, but without further
details from the OPs, you can only give a starting point.
A lot of office updates require the original source, and if not provided they fail.
If the computer has a faulty installation of office, the updates will also fail.
If the computer has viruses/malware then the installation will fail.
If the relevant services are turned off, the installation will fail.
Office updates have been known to fail when you run Windows Live Safety Centre as
that removes certain registry keys needed by office.
If an installation of office has been made via two separate installations disks, for
example Office Standard and Office Professional or standalone versions installed at
different times, there could be problems when the updates look for various installer
files and spits the dummy when it can't find the right .cab.
Firewalls, antivirus programs etc can also cause failure.

I downloaded the full file updates manually and they still required the original
source. Perhaps if the Office CD is in the installation drive, the updates may
proceed in some cases.

A majority of the problems seems to be fixed with a reinstall of office or a repair
of office.

If an OP wants professional help, they are free to speak to MS regarding their
problems.
