office update fails

no meaningful error message given just says at end 'unsuccessful' . Tried a
full download. Tried restricting the number of updates to one. Tried
re-installing Windows Script host v5.6, no difference. From previous
experience with microsoft updates I suspect my having multiple drives may be
the cause e.g. log file expected on C drive but I use C just to boot and
others for 'my documents' etc.., if the error told me what the log file is
called that would be a start.......
