Hi John,

You may want to alson post this in one of the IE or Windowx XP
newsgroups on news://msnews.microsoft.com

Are you perhaps running a security or antivirus software package
that checks each web page as IE is loading it?

XP SP1 with all hot fixes (not willing to go to sp2 yet)

I updated a laptop today with all the latest hotfixes and after reboting, IE
6 would take forever to launch - 60 seconds or so.
Entering a different url and loading the new web page also takes much longer
now.
Even simply trying to open the Tools->Options menu takes much longer now.

Prior to doing Windows Update today, launch time for IE was fine - a couple
seconds at worst.

Firefox launches just fine on the same machine and responds quickly (I've
been doing a side-by-side comparision), so I know that it isn't network
congestion causing the problem.

Any thoughts as to why IE 6 is taking so long to launch?>>
