Help - OfficeUpdateProbs

After loading SP3 (said was successful), was asked to
restart computer, however on doing so I have lost all
links to shortcuts (now .LNK files), most links to program
files, cannot open any EXE files (even from CDs). Even in
Windows all links are not active, including most in
Control Panel.
Any advice would be appreciated.
