Perhaps I'm missing something, but I thought the OEM version was tied (legally and often technically) to the original system it came on.

I am experiencing the exact same problems installing Office 2003 Pro OEM as was discussed here in April 2009.

My laptop has preinstalled trial version of Office 2007, but I would prefer to use Office 2003. With add/remove programs, I've removed all Office 2007 applications, but not the Office 2007 installation program.

When the new Office 2003 Pro OEM disk is loaded I am asked to enter the product key and when I hit the button there is a long delay, the ROM & HDD lights are on but the ROM doesn't sound to be running, then the error message appears:

Char: 1
Error: .\Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application
Code: 800700C1
