My machine locks up when I run the Office 2003 Setup.
I had a problem with XP Home and formatting the HDD as not Drive C. I recovered from that by unplugging all drives and reinstalling XP.
XP is up and running, and the CD and DVD (yes, I have both) work properly. But, when I go to install Office XP 2003, the system locks up. I eventually get a Not Responding notice.
I get the same behavior from the menu that starts from AutoRun and when I go to the CD and select the OFFICE folder and click on Setup.exe -- bypassing the menu that comes up from AutoRun.
I built the machine then installed XP Home, SP3, then installed the patches from the motherboard maker, then installed the drivers for the DVD, then installed the anti-virus, then Office. Office locks the system.
I've reformatted the HDD to start from scratch, installed XP Home w/SP3, patches, then Office. Still the same problems.
I've run out of ideas, and am doing the same things while hoping for different results.
