its a genuine copy from the retails and it has work before on the same
computer.
i have just reformated my hard drive and installing all the softwares an
notice office 07 not working.
copying the cd to my harddrive seems like an option, but ive heard others do
it and still get the problem,
if anything i might aswell try copying it, if u think its worth it?
but pls let me know how as im a novice computer user

If you can copy all of the CD/DVD to the hard drive, can you install from
there? The installation source may be corrupt.
