In win create a restore point
Start>Help & Support
Click System Restore (right side)
Select Create a Restore Point & follow wizard (next)
After completion & you have closed any windows go through My Computer and
select/highlight the folder "Microsoft Office"
Hit the Delete Btn (keyboard)
You should get a confirmation window and see files 'deleting'
Next Start>Run
Enter %temp% in the box, then OK it
A window should open after a pause with a whole list of files Folders
Select the topmost folder press & hold the shift key (left side of keyboard
up pointing arrow) and press Page Down (keyboard)
You will have highlighted all the folders/files in the window, hit the
delete Btn
Continue this untill you have emptied the Temp Folder - some files will not
delete as they are in use, this is normal.
After all done reboot your PC and check it seems to be ok
In the Task Bar (usually bottom of the window) you will see many icons on
the right side
Put the mouse arrow over an Icon a little notice should pop up stating what
it is, rt click and if there is an option to Exit do so - dont worry about
any AntiVirus or Network Connection Icon, leave them be.
Next pop your Office cd in after a pause, a window should open with MS
instructions to Install Office (Fingers crossed :) )
I believe your problem was caused by background software or settings that
simply copied the Office cd rather than installing it

Windows 98 and I have upgraded to XP. To accomplish going to XP

memory to go FROM 64 mb to 320 mb.
When the error message says "...originally installed...." are

referring
to the windows 98, which I believe MAY have been preloaded (but
I'm
not
positive) or are they referring to the Windows XP ?
