Re: Office in My Comp, C:\, Program Files but NOT in Start, All Pr

Just ONE item listed. It is Winword C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office
8,593 KB Application.

Hope that helps !!! By the way, kudos for the format of your instructions
to me. I really like the SPECIFIC direction (ie: Start>Search ....) That
kind of direction works really well for a rookie like me.

Thanks

I would'nt do any deleting at this stage.
Start>Search>All Files and Folders
enter the file name Winword.exe
click on More Advanced Options
select the top three (system, hidden & subfolder)
Search Btn
What does it reveal?

"Any chance".... the way I do things probably a pretty good chance....

I "assumed" it "installed", all I did was put the disc in the cd-rom and
it
started running.

I'll delete "Program Files" and all folders / sub-folders / files and try
using the installation discs .... again..... Right ????

Any change that Office was copied onto that computer instead of
installed?
I'm thinking files were copied elsewhere, Win XP installed, and then
Office
copied back over. If that's the case, delete those files and use the
installation discs.

Version 2002 including service pack 2. Windows xp home edition.

Also, the exact wording of the error message is "Application must be
installed to run. Please run setup from the location where you
originally
installed the application."

A couple other things that may / may not be a factor here. The
computer
HAD
Windows 98 and I have upgraded to XP. To accomplish going to XP I
added
memory to go FROM 64 mb to 320 mb.

When the error message says "...originally installed...." are they
referring
to the windows 98, which I believe MAY have been preloaded (but I'm not
positive) or are they referring to the Windows XP ?

I'm a rookie at this stuff. Thanks for your patience with me.

Thank you

What *exactly* is meant by "installed in My Comp, C:\, Program Files"
