RE: Office 2007 - Back-to-Back 1402 Errors

Hi,

Wow, very interesting that no one has any input on this issue. Here is
additional info:

So, no word yet on a Microsoft fix?

More Info:

What I'm finding when I view a problematic key is: "No permissions have been
assigned for this object..."

I can randomly click on various keys in "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT" and find
numerous instances where no permissions have been assigned. I did have UAC
turned off, but have since turned it back on... as well as Windows Defender.
So far, no joy.

I found information on how to assign permission throughout the registry, but
considering the trouble it caused some who tried it, I'm going to pass on it.
See here:

Is there a Microsoft tool that can add permissions to those keys/subkeys
that are missing them, while leaving the rest of the registry intact? Is that
a lot to ask for? ;-)

Thanx

Hi,

Office 2007 will not complete installation due to a 1402 error. Even after
assigning the proper permission to the registry key in question, the
installation fails again at another key. I have gone through so many
installation attempts I've lost count. The installation process continues to
fail at new inaccessible registry keys. Is there a need for the registry keys
in Windows Vista to have various levels of permission? If so, has Microsoft
developed a tool, which will allow the registry to become accessible to known
applications such as Office 2007 and the Adobe Suites? Acrobat CS3 has been
unable to update for days now... with a similar key denial. See specific
error below for Office 2007:

have not tried disabling ZoneAlarm.

Thanx.
