Re: how do I get user info to print on pgs from community printers

Hi Scotty,

You can add header footer information when the pages are processed through an application, whether Word, Excel or in your example
Internet Explorer as those apps are composing the printed page for you.

If the application you are using to create the documents does not include that capability, there are printer utilities available
with some printers and 3rd party prin manager products that can process the work/document flow that goes to a printer and that
software may have the ability to add/overlay a document with the information, but it can sometimes shrink the pages, as happens when
you have a header on incoming faxes, for example.

There are also 'virtual printers' (3rd party software) which print to PDF or other file format, and add the header at that time and
some of those then allow the print job to then be spooled to the printer of choice for actual printing by monitoring a folder that
is 'printed to' of a formed document. Basically the virtual printer would be the one selected as the 'community' printer.

You may want to use the link below to check with the folks in the Windows XP Printing & Fax discussion group to see if they have any
suggestions on a specific product and you may also want to see what software is available with/for the specific printer model you
have that can be configured.

I understand that... I am looking to reduce the amount of pages that are
printing at the same time identifying the printed pages... kind of like the line printed at the bottom of pages when you print from
the net.
www.blah.blah.com type thing... or even where the page numbers are set. But to be able to print from any source and have the
identifying username on the page. Thank you for the comment. >>
