If you go to Start - Programs - Microsoft Office Tools. Can you use the Microsoft Office 2003 Language Settings Tool and see if "Language that sets default behavior" includes a choice for English?

I bought the Spanish version because I live in Spain at the moment and I
won't be returning to the UK for several months. As my previous version of
Office decided to stop working I had to solve the problem and no one could
help me so I did the only thing left available to me: I bought the new
version in Spanish.

The questions begs to be asked: Why did you buy the Spanish version and not
English?
