The procedure does not work in many cases as several folks have
already
indicated.
Find me one of those reports. The procedure DOES work. It simply fails when people don't read the KB article correctly.

Rather than make excuses for a bad installer, why not ask for a better one
as we are doing?
Install the RTM version on a machine that never had the beta, and please find a single bug. Then we can talk about requesting a better installer. Who cares if the beta installer has a bug? That's to be expected with a beta version.

Holding Microsoft accountable makes products better. Making excuses for them
makes products worse.
Have you called Microsoft Support yet? Because bitching here is not holding Microsoft accountable, it is simply getting on the nerves of people here who are trying to help you with the available resources.
