Re: Office Professional 2007 install

We are aware of the KB articles that Microsoft has provided and the manual steps that are supposed to 'fix' their problem.
The procedure does not work in many cases as several folks have already indicated.
Rather than make excuses for a bad installer, why not ask for a better one as we are doing?
Holding Microsoft accountable makes products better. Making excuses for them makes products worse.

You guys need to relax - many of us had issues un-installing the office beta
version. why? who knows and in the end, who cares as long as there are
people willing to help regardless if they are MS staff - below is the manual
removal process so the install of the new can go without a hitch.

If you were One Care Beta dudes and converted to a license (and have had
issues installing on a second pc), let me know - I have a fix for it until MS
can document it.
Enjoy

How does all this justify the fact that the Office 2007 release version
installer should simply have been better written to take care of its own
'needs' more completely and take care of all the multutide of manual clean-up
steps that Microsoft seems to have deliberately imposed on those who want to
go from testing the Beta and eval versions on TEST systems directly to
testing the production release versions of Office 2007 on the same test
systems. Even in that scenario, it is more productive if entire systems don't
have to be re-installed just because the installation software is so poorly
written.
This is so much like the old installation procedures for Exchange and SQL
server that could mangle entire Windows Domains beyond repair--and those were
all production releases. Why defend the indefensiblly sloppy programming that
leads to this garbgage?
What is really needed is a fully automated work-around that won't cost us
and our customers a fortune in system recovery time when all we want to do is
bump our test systems and theirs up to newer releases of the same product.
If you or anyone at Microsoft could/would provide a real business-viable
solutions, that would be appreciated!
