Re: Confused & Concern

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I'm glad you appreciate where I'm coming from. Some people would read it as
being mean or a smart a$$ but I'm just trying to be frank.

If you already know that you aren't going to spend several hundred dollars
for the upgrade, save the files you've worked on so far as an older version
and dump the trial. It's time-bombed anyway and Murphy's Law says that
you'll need it most the day it expires. (Murph and I are close buddies.)

As for your copy of Office, somewhere down along the line, you're going to
need your CDs. Even if you just use them to prove that you own a qualifying
product of Office. That's why I asked if they came pre-installed on your
computer or if you purchased Office separately. Now's a great time to deal
with this issue.

Please do not take my response as sarcastic; I truly appreciate your
candidness. Mistakenly I panicked & had thought to have lost my original
version of Office, however thankfully that isn't the case. As far as
upgrading, to my ability I'm unable to find any figures or what it may
cost,
which in fact was one of my questions within my post, though that was my
fault for not stating it clearer. I assure you that I'm always one for
upgrading software; it's like a new adventure for me - I just might not
have
the $ resources. I guess that if you cannot afford to play with the big
boys
then don't try. I know that you meant no harm & I hope that you see me
likewise.

If I may ask, despite the fact that I'm experiencing no problems with
using
the trial version (in fact it's invigorating to me), but would your advise
me
to dump this trial version immediately & just go back using my old
version?

Miss, again thank you for your frankness.

the

You readily admit that you are a novice so why are you downloading trial
software? Especially since you already had a working version of Office.
And
the fact that you may no longer have your old CDs could come back to bite
you in the butt. (You may have a glimmer of hope on your old software.
Did
it come with your computer or did you buy it separately?)

If you'll heed this stranger's suggestions, (1) start digging for those
Office CDs and (2) stop downloading trial software if you have no
intention
of upgrading.

I'm extremely confused & am concern:
Without much thought or advice from someone who knows about computer I
went
ahead & downloaded "Office 2007 trail" & after successfully doing so I
emailed a buddy of mine who truly is an expert at computers & all of
the
ins
& outs with Microsoft. In his humble opinion, I made a big mistake
&warned
me that I may lose or corrupt all of my files, documents, etc. Of
course
some may disagree with my buddy's views & some may disagree - it's all
irrelevant & isn't my purpose for posting.

Anyhow, I do have some questions for which I hope that someone who has
some
kindness & experience with using the Office 2007 Version. Let me first
say
that thus far everything SEEMS to be working fine for me (knock on
wood).
For example, when I went into Word 2007 & opened up a preexisting
document,
made some changes, save the document, & closed out Word 2007. Next, I
opened
up my older version of Word 2002, opened up the same document which I
opened
up in Word 2007 & all of the changes that I made in Word 2007 were also
made
in Word 2002 version too. I followed the same experiments with using
Access
& Excel & thus far I'm quite pleased. My first question is, what's the
catch, have other people had great experience/ success & satisfaction
with
the trial version? My next & most important question is, what's going
to
happen once my trial period expires & I can't afford $500 or somewhere
in
the
price range I'm assuming? Is my old version of Office 2002 (which I
may
no
longer still have the CD) now wiped off of my hard drive & in 60-days I
won't
have any Office software at all?

Please, I ask for your forgiveness if I seem to be a bit whinny here;
I'm
just afraid that I may have royally screwed myself over!

In advance, any input would be appreciated!
