I was having a problem with file open/save dialog box hanging up, and
someone
suggested running Detect and Repair using the installation DVD. No change.
Found in newsgroups that problem might be related to any mapped drives
that
were not connected. Removed unconnected mapped drives. Problem solved, but
QUESTION IS: Do I need to reinstall service packs and updates after
running
detect and repair? If so, how, since they're all still listed in
add/remove
programs, and Microsoft update says everything is up to date?

Also, on that file open/save dialog box hang up, is there a permanent way
to
fix that unconnected mapped drives problem? Since I use several external
devices that might or might not be needed at the time, and its kind of a
pain
to have to remap them when you turn one one to use it.
