Hi Dennis,
The 'still there' beta item can be an item that doesn't get listed under the "Microsoft Office..." grouping in Add/Remove Programs,
such as the items listed in this MS article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927222/en-us?FR=1
If all of those items are removed follow the link to the sister MS article at the bottom of this one for the procedure to remove the
left over bits and pieces.

When attempting to install the above, I receive the following message:
Setup is unable to proceed due to the following error(s):
The 2007 Microsoft Office sysytem does not support upgrading from a
pre-release version of the 2007 Microsoft Office system. You must first
uninstall any prerelease versions of the 2007 Microsoft Office system
products and associated technologies. Correct the issue(s) listed above and
re-run setup.
Easier said than done.
The conventional add/remove process in Control Panel doesn't come close. I
have attempted to delete evey scrap of associated pre-release software from
my system (e.g. references and folders labeled Office 12) but no luck. Is
there a method to track down and safely remove all vestages of the
pre-release product without risking performance of the 2003 Office version
I'm still running?
Thanks,
Dennis>>
